Some great news for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and some not-so-great news for the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs.
Blue Jackets defenceman Zach Werenski is expected to return to action on Wednesday against the Maple Leafs after leaving Monday's 5-1 loss to the Washington Capitals with an upper-body injury, Frank Seravalli reported on Tuesday.
It is unclear when the injury occurred, but Werenski left the game after 17:36 of time on ice. He had four shots and two blocked shots in the contest.
The 28-year-old ranks second on the team with 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) and is tied for third among defencemen in the NHL. He ranks second in average ice time at 26:50 per game.
Mathieu Olivier also suffered an upper-body injury in Monday night's loss. He left the game late in the first period.
There is no update on him.
